Position Summary:
The role of the Sr. Corporate Process Engineer is to evaluate existing processes and to configure manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the production process. The main focus of the Process Engineer’s work is on maintaining reliable and safe manufacturing systems, equipment and tooling while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers. The process engineer is a part of a team driven to identify, develop and deliver innovative solutions, driven to constantly improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.



Process Responsibilities:


  • Develops and enforces the process structure for injection molding, one-step blow molding, two-step blow molding, and/or injection/blowmold tooling

  • Reviews and maintains full cavitation and cycle time standards

  • Continuously improve processes to keep them centered and capable

  • Optimizes process parameters based on preform and container performance

  • Development & training of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WI)

  • Audits the processes, tooling, materials and equipment

  • Develop “Lessons Learned” procedures and share/train across similar manufacturing facilities

  • Closely work with external vendors and consultants to perform an effective run off process for new and refurbished tooling &/or equipment

  • Track machine and tooling assets

  • Responsible for results of Manufacturing Engineering KPIs


 

Best-In-Class (BIC) Responsibilities:


  • Participate on BIC Teams

  • Prepares final reports including: Master Process Set-up Sheets, recommended Process Control Parameters and Center lining programs.

  • Develops and maintains BIC Processes


 

Preventative Maintenance Responsibilities:


  • Follows up on PM attainment and quality of PMs

  • Follows up and assists plants in maintaining tooling reports and logbook of repairs & refurbs

  • Participates in Operator training, PM training and changeover training

  • Responsible for communicating quality &/or required equipment maintenance issues to management for prompt action


 

Support Responsibilities:


  • Performs start-up of new equipment, tooling and processes

  • Engaged in the purchasing of new/used processing equipment and tooling

  • Start-up and validation of new products

  • Produces sample preforms &/or bottles as necessary

  • Reviews test data and compare it with the product performance specifications

  • Recommends design modifications and process improvements if required to meet the product performance specifications

  • Shares and teaches plastic processing and mechanical knowledge with machine operators and maintenance personnel at all levels to provide continuous training

  • Support Corp Manager of Lean 6-Sigma to support CI projects that effectively resolve systemic issues

  • Partner with management and plant staffs to develop a portfolio of CI projects

  • Other duties as assigned


 
Requirements:
Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; three to five years of maintenance, engineering, or production management experience

  • This position requires a thorough knowledge of the PET industry and its related manufacturing platforms. Expertise should exist in one or two of the four following areas: injection molding, one-step blow molding, two-step blow molding, and/or injection/blowmold tooling

  • This individual will possess mechanical, technical and process aptitudes. This experience should be well documented

  • Experience in developing capital appropriations

  • Must be able to negotiate

  • Must have strong problem solving abilities

  • Must have positive interpersonal skills, strong team building skills and excellent oral/written communications


 

Communication:


  • Must be fluent in the English language with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures

  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence 

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond in a group environment


 

Analytical:


  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.


 

Training:

  • Safety training within Engineering department &/or area of responsibility throughout the organization
